Veterans Day will be celebrated this Monday, November 12. On this special day, we come together as a nation to commemorate the courageous men and women who have dedicated their lives to keeping us safe every day. Our veterans made the ultimate sacrifices for this country we love, and we honor them for their service. As a Senior Member of the House Armed Services Committee, I am honored to serve our veterans in Congress.

The Department of Veterans Affairs has created this resource to help you find a 2012 Veterans Day ceremony nearby. There are also a variety of ways to support veterans at any time of the year. These include:
  • Volunteer to help veterans. Put your unique talents to work by volunteering at a local Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The VA Voluntary Service Office can provide you information on how to volunteer locally.

  • Display the American flag. Show your national pride and display our nation’s flag in front of your home. To find proper ways to display the flag, click here. To order an American flag that has flown over the United States Capitol, please contact my office.

  • Give to soldiers currently serving. Organize friends and family to send care packages and letters to Americans serving in Afghanistan.

  • Help a vet find a job. First Lady Michelle Obama's initiative, Joining Forces, connects our servicemen and women, veterans and military spouses with the resources they need to find jobs at home.
I want to extend my deepest thanks to all those who have served or are currently serving in the Armed Forces. If you or your family has any questions about veterans’ issues, please contact my office.

Sincerely,

U.S. Congressman Mike McIntyre
Representing the 7th District of North Carolina
